The General Meeting, what is it? Well, it has always been a great way for new people interested in what we do to meet and talk to members. We usually have pizza about 30 minutes before the meeting starts (meeting begins at 5:30pm, so get here at 5:00pm if you want to smooze). General Meetings are also where we hear from various members on the work we are doing, discuss stuff, etc. So please join us if you want to help end the drug wars, fight stigmatization of drug use and users and work to organize drug users to change how we are viewed by society (mostly negativity). Negativity doesn't help anyone get free, does it. Come and join us. We will never make you feel bad just because you are a drug user. In fact, some people actually feel better after attending a meeting.

Guinness World Record: WHD 2012
Absolutely everyone can identify with a record attempt, no matter where you're from, what language you speak, or how old you are. A record attempt is about setting ourselves a seemingly impossible goal and showing the determination to achieve it. Hence, the Alliance is planning a Guinness World Record attempt to celebrate World Hepatitis Day 2012 (July 28) by having the most people performing the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” actions in 24 hours at multiple venues around the world.
Come join the SF Drug Users Union at their office, 149 Turk Street (between Jones & Taylor) on World Hepatitis Day. We will have a light lunch and perform the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" gestures.
If you want to know about Hep C Prevention, members of the Hep C Task Force will be on hand to answer your questions. Hep C is especially hard hitting on the drug using community.

They call it gunpowder | SF Bay Guardian "There's a new batch of heroin in town—people are dying," says Johnny Lorenz, community activist and member of San Francisco Drug Users Union, a members-based organization advocating drug-friendly policies and giving a voice to drug users, who say they are often marginalized and seen as not caring about their community". Lorenz, a former heroin addict, says a friend recently died from heroin-related causes. Whether it was gunpowder heroin that actually caused his death is unknown.
